Application Process for FCSANZ
Applicants for FCSANZ are to be nominated by two current financial FCSANZ members who do not have a familial relationship with the applicant
Applications for FCSANZ go through the following process which can take several months:
Review by the Regional Committee in which the applicant resides. Nursing and Allied Health professional submissions will be reviewed by the relevant Cardiovascular Nursing Council or Allied Health Science and Technology Council;
Applications are listed for review by the Professional and Ethical Standards Committee (PESC);
Applications and the recommendation from the Regional Committee/ Council and PESC are then listed for consideration by the Board.
Applicants should be aware that the Board meets four times each year. Applications are not ratified outside of these meetings. An application needs to be submitted at least 8 weeks prior to the Board meeting at which the applicant wishes to be considered.
FCSANZ Eligibility
1.Physicians and Surgeons:
Physicians and Surgeons who are practising independently and have shown that their primary interest and commitment is the practice of cardiovascular medicine or cardiothoracic surgery, or in these allied subjects approved by The Society;
At least three (3) years post completion of recognised specialty training in cardiology or cardiothoracic surgery. Such recognised training includes Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians with specialty training in cardiology or Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons with specialty training in cardiothoracic surgery (“Specialty Training”);
Post-graduate training and qualifications equivalent to the Specialty Training together with registration by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (or successor body) or New Zealand Medical Council (or successor body) as a practicing cardiologist or cardiothoracic surgeon will be considered by the Board

- Any additional evidence of qualifications/leadership in the field you may wish to provide to support your application.
2. Scientists / Research:
Scientists or Research Academics with a doctoral degree;
At least three (3) years post-doctoral experience;
Principal field of research is cardiovascular disease;
Conducting scholarly research independently (i.e grant track record, publications, student supervision);
Must demonstrate leadership in the advancement of cardiovascular health, via relevantleadership positions, and/or research standing, and/or impact of research.

3. Nursing or Allied Health Professionals:
Nursing or allied health professionals, with relevant qualifications, who fall under the remit of either the Cardiovascular Nursing Council or Allied Health Science Technology Council.
Registration with the relevant Australian or New Zealand regulatory body as/if applicable to that profession
Principal field of work is cardiovascular health care
Either:
i.At least three (3) years working clinically in a senior leadership position incardiovascular health care (typically, this will include experienced clinicians withextensive specialist knowledge or broad generalist knowledge; holding a supervisory orleadership role within a department or organisation; and/or holding additionalexpertise/roles in delivery or development of cardiovascular health care); OR
At least three (3) years of demonstrated leadership in the advancement ofcardiovascular health (typically, this will be demonstrated by holding relevantleadership positions within cardiovascular health care, research standing, and/orimpact of cardiovascular health care research or delivery).
